NetCorps Jordan continues youth empowerment through ICT
AMMAN (JT)

NetCorps Jordan, a youth internship programme that trains Jordanian youth to spread ICT throughout the Kingdom, announced Sunday that it has been registered as an independent not-for-profit company with the Ministry of Industry and Trade. NetCorps Jordan board of directors also announced the appointment of Tania Jordan as the company's CEO.
The NetCorps Jordan programme provides interns with training in a blend of ICT, community development, and business skills, and places them in internships with community computer centres (Knowledge Stations), schools and government agencies.
The interns train people in the community to help them use ICT to enhance their everyday lives and businesses, and create ICT-supported communities. The formal registration launches the second phase of the NetCorps programme. A premier training institute, the Queen Zein Al Sharaf Institute for Development incubated the programme from 2003 to 2004. During that time, the programme trained 150 interns who in turn trained 1,800 community members. As a result, national teams of young leaders are now fostering change in their own communities through ICT. NetCorps Jordan is funded by USAID and implemented with the support of the USAID-funded AMIR Programme.
