Shabakat Nuqul Group microventure fund selects winners in Al Koura
Nuqul Group, in collaboration with its strategic partner, Shabakat Al Ordon, recently organised an event in Al Ashrafieh Club in Al Koura to select the winners of Shabakat Nuqul Group microventure fund. The fund was launched in the district in March 2010 with the objective of building the capacity of the district’s entrepreneurs transforming their ideas into empowering microventures that can impact the community. Three hundred community members registered to participate in the preparatory phase were they were trained on t?e Microsoft Digital Literacy Programme, and Micro to Small Business Toolbox (business planning and operations, costing, accounting and bookkeeping, marketing and sales, human resources, purchasing, and inventory management); participants were shortlisted to 60 prospects who have attended comprehensive training providing them with the needed competency and facilitation skills in order for them to create projects that are sustainable, income generating with viable marketing and business plans. During the c?remony, the 60 finalists pitched their ventures to the committee that included members from both Nuqul Group and Shabakat Al Ordon, who evaluated each project according to specific pre-set scoring criteria, that takes into consideration the target market, the product or service, development plan, competition and financial projections.
